In a nutshell

Unique hostel appears on Australian beach

World’s first sand hostel opens in Australia

From the idyllic beaches of Australia’s Gold Coast, the world’s first Sand Hostel opened its door this September to a lucky few residents

Born out of a desire to make their guests dreams a reality, we worked with Hostelworld to create a unique beachfront property, the ‘Sand Hostel’, on Kurrawa Beach an hour outside of Brisbane.

Guests raced to book a coveted place at the hostel, which featured space for 10 to stay, including a luxury private room. More than just a place to rest your head guests enjoyed surf and yoga lessons throughout the day along with master classes in sand sculpture from world champion Dennis Massoud, the man charged with raising the property out of the surrounding sand. As night fell, the party started, and revellers danced to the beats of Australia’s most famous DJs including Roland Tings.

To celebrate this feat of sand engineering a global media push saw over 280 pieces of coverage published worldwide, including the Telegraph, Mashable and the Mail Online.
